What is pediatric occupational therapy?

Pediatric occupational therapy focuses on helping children reach developmental milestones, improve independence with activities of daily living, address concerns with sensory processing skills, motor coordination skills, improve fine motor and visual motor skill development, and better engage with the people in their different environments.

Each session focuses on each individual client’s established goals and provides a fun, play based, and therapeutically supportive environment. The last 10 minutes of each session focuses on parent education and review of the client’s home exercise program to provide carryover of skills. Tri-Cities Pediatric OT is specially trained in multiple areas of intervention, including treating children with feeding concerns/picky eaters, individuals with chronic motor tic disorder, FND, Tourette Syndrome, children with sensory processing disorder, fine motor concerns, cerebral palsy, genetic conditions, and developmental delay. Tri-Cities Pediatric OT sees clients from birth to age 24. We are happy to collaborate and treat adults with chronic motor tic disorder and Tourette Syndrome.
